    • Born on December 17, 1927, Richard Long was an American actor whose career began in 1946. Fresh out of high school, he starred with Orson Welles and Claudette Colbert in Tomorrow is Forever.
    • Well- poised and gifted with natural timing, several movies followed. From the late 1950’s through the early 1970’s, he was a stable on television performing well-noted guest appearances and starring as a regular cast member in five separate television series.
    • Even those unlikely to know the name are certain to know the face or movies and television series in which he played including those as iconic at the Ma and Pa Kettle series, the classic B horror movie House on the Haunted Hill, and the popular family western The Big Valley. His career was cut short when he died from heart disease at 47 in 1974, though his fans still remember and admire both his work and the actor himself.

    My screen name is Tauna Petit-Strawn. I am still trying to learn to navigate around this site. I'm a fan of all the actors/actresses that played on The Big Valley...that's where I first saw Richard Long.

    Does anybody now if Larry Long was a brother of Richard Long. I used to date Larry's son Joe, and they always said Richard Long was a relation.

    Hello Members:

    Since we have new members, I thought it would be helpful to go over some points that I hope will make it more enjoyable to get around the site.

    Quick Links:

    Quick Links (Month) is listed both on the Home Page and also on the left-hand side of the Home Page. These are pages with the links for new chapters of fan fictions, videos, articles, completed image pages and completed episode pages.

    This page allows members to go back further in time than What’s New does. It also is easier to see these changes without wading through every change (i.e., formatting) that has occurred on the site.

    Photo

    Embedded videos and photos will generally be caught when a page is complete. For example, if a movie page has both images and video, after the author completes the page a link will be added to the Quick Links page.

    It is true that sometimes photos are added piecemeal as images are scanned. Generally one can go to Photos on the top of any page and click. There are approximately 700 photos as of this writing.

    I do not recommend this method for the following reasons: 1. Photos are can actually be removed from the Photo Gallery and included on a page so you miss photos. 2. If you are interested in videos, the only way you can see most is embedded on pages and 3. photos on pages are crisper on episode pages as they are usually manually manipulated to look nicer.

    Plus, some photos do not have titles. Bi-monthly, an administrative review is done to add. When titles are being added, it affects Last Updated of Photos and a member making it difficult to see the most recent added.

    Hopefully this thread provided a couple quick helpful hints to get around the site so one need not have to review over 500 pages of materials.
